Deciding Framed Bisimilarity

چکیده

The spi-calculus, proposed by Abadi and Gordon, is a process calculus based on the π-calculus and is intended for reasoning about the behaviour of cryptographic protocols. We consider the finite-control fragment of the spi-calculus, showing it to be Turing-powerful (a result which is joint work with Josva Kleist, Uwe Nestmann, and Björn Victor.) Next, we restrict our attention to finite (non-recursive) spicalculus. Here, we show that framed bisimilarity, an equivalence relation proposed by Abadi and Gordon, showing that it is decidable for this fragment.

Deciding Hedged Bisimilarity

The spi-calculus is a formal model for the design and analysis of cryptographic protocols: many security properties, such as authentication and strong confidentiality, can be reduced to the verification of behavioural equivalences between spi processes. In this paper we provide an algorithm for deciding hedged bisimilarity on finite processes, which is equivalent to barbed equivalence (and coar...

Reducing Weak to Strong Bisimilarity in CCP

Concurrent constraint programming (ccp) is a well-established model for concurrency that singles out the fundamental aspects of asynchronous systems whose agents (or processes) evolve by posting and querying (partial) information in a global medium. Bisimilarity is a standard behavioural equivalence in concurrency theory. However, only recently a well-behaved notion of bisimilarity for ccp, and...

Computational Complexity of Some Equivalence-Checking Problems

This habilitation thesis gives an overview of five papers of the author in the area of verification, in particular, in the study of computational complexity of equivalence checking problems and related areas. The first of these papers, Sawa, Jančar: Equivalences on Finite-State Systems are PTIME-hard (2005), shows that deciding any relation between bisimulation equivalence (bisimilarity) and tr...

Non-interleaving bisimulation equivalences on Basic Parallel Processes

We show polynomial time algorithms for deciding hereditary history preserving bisimilarity (in O(n logn)) and history preserving bisimilarity (in O(n)) on the class Basic Parallel Processes. The latter algorithm also decides a number of other non-interleaving behavioural equivalences (e.g., distributed bisimilarity) which are known to coincide with history preserving bisimilarity on this class....

Some problems related to bisimilarity on BPP

Jančar has in 2003 shown that bisimilarity on Basic Parallel Processes (BPP) can be decided in polynomial space. Bisimilarity is studied on various subclasses of BPP as well. We present summary of known complexity bounds of some such bisimilarity problems. Moreover is here shown that deciding regularity of a BPP is PSPACE-complete. So far this problem was only known to be PSPACE-hard.
